LOWELL -- Ronald J. Surprenant, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22nd, 2010 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell after an extended illness. He was the husband of Irene (Ottmon) Surprenant of Texas.

He was born in Lowell on January 31, 1935, a son of the late Leo and Alice (Dumont) Surprenant. Ronald resided in San Antonio, Texas for 38 years before moving back to Lowell 15 years ago.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Southwest Research as a Caterpillar Mechanic for many years. Ronald served in the US Army and was a former member of the Passe Temp Club, Lowell.

Earlier in his life, he enjoyed weight lifting but his greatest passion was singing and had a very gifted voice.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Surprenant of CA and Renee Surprenant of Texas; two sons Ronald Surprenant and Scott Surprenant both of Texas; two sisters, Lorraine Grenon of Dracut and Rita Begley and her husband Lawrence of Littleton; six brothers, Leo Surprenant and his wife Ann of Dracut, Robert Surprenant and his wife Mary of Lowell, Raymond Surprenant and his wife Marge of Florida, Richard Surprenant and his companion Janice Lindbloom of Clinton, Leonard Surprenant and his wife Dorothy of Lowell, and Paul Surprenant of Lowell; also many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Albert Richard "Sunshine" Grenon and Gail Surprenant.

SURPRENANT -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Monday, Sept. 27 from 4 until 8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the Parish of St. Rita, Lowell. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Rd. Columbus, OH 43221.
